What is Civics? |
What is going to be on the test? |
According to the Civics textbook Florida Civics, Economics & Geography by McGraw-Hill, civics is "the study of the rights and duties of citizens." Civics class, however, is so much more! This course covers a variety of units that touch on the important elements of citizenship, influences on our government, and how our government works. Below is a list of the units covered during the school year.
|
The content of Civics is broken down into four categories or sections: Origins and Purposes of Government; Roles, Rights and Responsibilities of Citizens; Government Policies and Political Processes; and Organization and Function of Government. The End of Course Exam will be comprised of questions from the benchmarks listed within these categories. Each category will have 25% of the questions for the exam. The way the curriculum is taught to the students is through the units. A particular unit might use benchmarks from several different sections. If a student is struggling on certain topics, they can be found within our weekly EOC Review pages.
What resources are there to prepare for the test? There have been so many resources created both for teachers and students to use when preparing for the End of Course Exam. Many of these resources are listed on the resource page as well as the weekly EOC Review pages.
